At the end of this week we enter the portal of Lughnasadh - a cross quarter holy day marking the midpoint between Summer Solstice and Fall Equinox. It’s a time when we acknowledge and express our gifts and skills as individuals in service to the collective.
We celebrate the first harvest - grain - with thanksgiving for all that was born through the marriage of Sun and Earth (the second harvest of fruit is Mabon and the third harvest of nuts and seeds is Samhain, one of my favorites). We tell stories of abundance, blessing and sacrifice; and connect with the Sun God, Lugh, and his foster Mother, Tailtiu who sacrificed Herself by clearing the wild land for agriculture.
This Lughnasadh portal opens on Friday, July 27 with the Full Moon in Aquarius and the Sun in Leo ☀️The full moon happens to correspond with a full lunar eclipse, so be prepared for amplification, oh my! Many of you are already feeling the heightened energy pouring in. There’s a huge amount of chaos and reorganization as structures continue to breakdown, so that a foundation for a brighter future can be built.
This particular solar/lunar relationship reminds us that the light of the self truly serves the collective, which when I think about it, is very much what a Mother does for her family. She shines so that all who see her shine brighter by the felt remembrance of our interconnectedness. The same is true of a Father, teacher, guide, mentor, hero/ine ✨
I’m also reminded of a poem by Hafiz:
Even after all this time, the Sun never says to the Earth, “You owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the entire sky.
Love like that...And with this moon, we step into Fall, we dive into the element of Water, we connect with the overarching archetype of Mother/Queen 🌹
Make your love like the Sun, shining on All, no matter who or what or why. All.
